There are two ways to be: You could be doing. Or you could be reflecting.

These two modes are exclusive.
You cannot do both at the same time.

When balancing and moving back and forth between these two modes, how do you know you are doing enough of either?

It takes courage and self-awareness to stop, reflect and give yourself the feedback you need to stay on the right track.

What most people are struggling with is “feeding back” their reflections and learnings into the next stages of doing.

What is holding us back from incorporating our reflections into our thought process before we move forward?

We avoid change. We avoid anything that will make us unpopular - especially with ourselves.

What holds us back is our learned inability to be courageous about receiving feedback. We fear the change that will result from honest and self-critical feedback. We avoid the uncomfortable feelings that go hand in hand with change, so we avoid this crucial part of the process.

To stay on track, you need to start getting comfortable with changing direction. You need to be ok with challenging your own current beliefs about the way things are done.

You need to be ok with saying something that might be unpopular.

All of this takes courage.

How much better will you be if you start practising courageous feedback?
